Locatrix and Wesley Mission Queensland have enjoyed a great working relationship since 2015. Originally hearing about Locatrix (back then Concept Safety Systems) through combined support to Hummingbird House, Wesley Mission Queensland’s search for a better compliance and emergency management system led them to the decision to proceed with Locatrix’s PlanSafe product.
Wesley Mission Queensland were finding it difficult and costly to maintain fire and emergency instruction compliance across their 82 buildings.
Originally signing up for General and First Response Instruction and Warden training with Locatrix’s PlanSafe product, Wesley Mission Queensland quickly saw the efficiency gained by the online offering and extended it to their volunteer and contractor visitor induction system.
Prior to using PlanSafe, Wesley Mission Queensland were finding it difficult and costly to maintain fire and emergency instruction compliance across their 82 buildings many of which are 24 hr facilities. With the added complication of inducting shift workers, agency staff and staff with English as their second language, PlanSafe could provide these learners an opportunity to be inducted anytime, anywhere – a convenience that face to face training doesn’t offer. Staff are more engaged in the learning process and confident that they can assist Wesley Mission Queensland’s residential and community clients in ensuring their safety if an evacuation was ever required.

PlanSafe’s site specific training is enriched and targeted to the individual student, ensuring that they only learn what they need to. With the interactive floor plans and visual asset management features PlanStudio (Locatrix’s application and mark up tool) specific detail is collected as data and staff only learn about their own site and can drill down to specific work-place practices and unique evacuation training such as processes prescribed from fire engineered solutions. Included in this are videos showing exactly how a process is to be completed.
But it doesn’t stop there, when we asked Wesley Mission Queensland where their best source of asset- built plans were, they were quick to respond that they sit with Locatrix! Once we provided a demonstration of PlanStudio and showed them how easily it was to access their own as-built plans which, with the use of PlanStudio enable geotagging technology and accurate spatial data, they saw that they could extend the use of Locatrix’s offering even further with visual asset management capability and simply having a digitised central floorplan repository.

Now Wesley Mission Queensland have up to date, accurate graphical representation across 82 buildings and locations. They can even use these to plan renovations, put on their virtual reality headset and see for themselves how they can better optimise their spaces for greater operational effectiveness, providing their residents the best and safest spaces on offer.
On safety, in addition to having all staff, volunteers and contractors trained and confident on safety processes, Wesley Mission Queensland can feel confident knowing that Locatrix has made floor plans directly accessible to first responders, providing them with better situational awareness and preparedness on how to address an emergency in their villages, all that information, maintained, up to date and accurate.
