Locatrix today announced the formal market launch of its Emergency Services Platform (ESP), a cloud-based solution delivering real-time, spatially accurate building intelligence to first responders – when and where it matters most.
Already in use by multiple emergency service agencies across Australia, ESP is gaining strong momentum as organisations recognise the critical role accurate, up-to-date building information plays in improving emergency outcomes.
ESP provides first responders with instant access to digital floor plans and critical building data before and during incidents, helping reduce uncertainty, enhance situational awareness, and support faster, more informed decision-making on arrival.
The platform integrates directly into existing responder workflows and systems, ensuring critical information is accessible in high-pressure environments without adding complexity.
Since its inception, Locatrix and its channel partners have used our software to map more than 70,000 buildings across Australia, representing over 134,000 floors – creating one of the most comprehensive datasets of its kind.
Across increasingly complex environments such as hospitals, high-rise buildings, and critical infrastructure, access to accurate indoor information remains a persistent challenge for emergency services.
ESP addresses this gap by transforming existing building information into a real-time, operational resource – ensuring that layouts, access points, and safety assets are current and readily available – supporting better preparedness, faster response times, and improved safety outcomes for both occupants and responders.
Importantly, ESP is provided at no cost to first responders – reflecting Locatrix’s commitment to supporting those who protect communities every day.
Locatrix’s approach to improving emergency response outcomes has also been recognised at a national level.
In 2024, Locatrix was honoured to receive the Innovation Award for Small Business from the Geospatial Council of Australia in recognition of ESP. The award recognised ESP’s ability to improve situational awareness for first responders through current, digitised and geo-referenced building intelligence about constantly evolving internal building layouts. By enabling faster, safer and more informed decision-making, ESP helps mitigate risk, protect people, and improve outcomes for responders and the communities they serve.
In 2025, Locatrix was named a winner in the Built Environment category at the Australian Technologies Competition – one of Australia’s leading innovation programs – selected from a highly competitive field of entrants across multiple industries. The award recognised the strength of Locatrix’s integrated platform, including ESP, PlanStudio® and PlanSafe®, and their combined role in transforming how building information is created, managed and shared to support safer outcomes.
According to Scott Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Locatrix, the formal launch reflects both growing market demand and the company’s long-standing mission:
“At Locatrix, our purpose is simple: to protect lives through preparedness.
We’ve seen firsthand how access to accurate building information can change the outcome of an emergency. ESP ensures first responders have the right information at the exact moment they need it.
It marks a shift from static, fragmented building information to real-time, connected intelligence – accessible when it matters most.
The momentum we’re seeing across Australia reinforces that this is not just a technology solution – it’s critical infrastructure for safer communities.”

ESP forms part of Locatrix’s broader ecosystem, alongside PlanStudio® and PlanSafe®, which together enable organisations to create, manage, and share compliant, high-quality building and safety information.
John Hummelstad, who led Locatrix as CEO before transitioning to the Board in 2025, highlighted the long-term vision behind the platform:
“From the outset, the idea behind ESP was simple. Critical building information already existed – but it was locked away, static, and hard to access when it mattered most.
The opportunity was to make that information digital, current, and put it directly in the hands of first responders.
When you consider that floor plans are already required for compliance, the question becomes: why wouldn’t we use them to help save lives?
That’s what ESP is about – digitising something that already exists and making it operational, accessible, and genuinely useful in an emergency.”

Locatrix continues to work closely with organisations across sectors – including healthcare, education, aged care, government, and retail – to expand the availability and accuracy of building data shared through ESP.
As buildings become more complex and dynamic, the need for reliable, real-time indoor intelligence will only grow.
With ESP, Locatrix is positioning itself at the forefront of this shift – helping establish a new standard for emergency preparedness and response.
Locatrix and its channel partners work with Australian organisations of all shapes and sizes to ensure their floor plans are accurate, compliant, and accessible when it matters most. By digitising building layouts through PlanStudio®, organisations can help ensure critical information is available to emergency services via ESP – supporting safer outcomes for occupants and responders alike.
Locatrix is an Australian technology company specialising in digital mapping, safety, and compliance solutions. Its platforms transform complex indoor environments into navigable, intelligent spaces – helping organisations meet regulatory requirements and improving emergency outcomes.
With a mission to keep people safe, Locatrix aims to help 100 million people stay safe by 2035 by becoming the global standard in indoor planning and emergency preparedness.
