Chairman of Locatrix and active Non-executive Director

In 2010 Rick joined the team at Locatrix as Chairman and active Non-executive Director. With a career spanning more than 35 years, Rick possesses deep technology experience as well as an expert knowledge of business operations, and leadership.

Rick is the founder of IQ Funds, a seed fund that invests in early stage technology companies. With an active portfolio of more than 15 companies across Australia, IQ Funds continues to be a prosperous and evolving business venture.

In addition, Rick also has significant board experience for businesses including Technology One Limited (ASX:TNE) - where he chairs the Nominations and Governance Committee of the Board. Rick also holds chairman roles at m-View and I-volve Technology. M-view specialises in providing live-video streaming over mobile networks, while I-volve delivers real-time machine intelligence to the resources sector, enabling their clients to make educated decisions - resulting in increased productivity, reduced costs, and effective risk management.

Lee Johnson

Lee Johnson AFSM FIFireE served as Commissioner of the Queensland fire and Emergency Service for 13 years.

Having joined the fire service in Townsville in 1975 where he worked for 10 years as a firefighter before transferring to the Gold Coast, Lee was promoted to Rockhampton as the Deputy Chief Officer and District Commander. In 1997 he was appointed as a Commissioner for the then Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority in Central Region and later in Brisbane South Region.

During his time as Commissioner, Lee played a key role in the development of Urban Search and Rescue capability within QFES and is an advocate for building fire safety. Lee has extensive experience in the command and control projects for broad scale disasters particularly those relating to deployed communications.

He has been acknowledged internationally by virtue of his previous position as President of the Australian Fire and emergency Services Authority Council and more recently awarded a Fellow of the Institute of Fire Engineers.

Lee served as President of the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC) and as a Director on the Board of the National Aerial Firefighting Centre.

Graeme Thom

Graeme is one of Queensland Fire and Emergency Service’s (QFES) longest serving senior officers and,  although always an operational fire officer throughout his career, served in many roles including Acting in the positions of Assistant Commissioner - Community Safety and Risk Management and Assistant Commissioner Northern region, he was Brisbane City’s Fire Commander for many years, Executive Manager of the state’s fire safety department for over 12 yrs and finished his career in the position of Director of Operational Performance Improvement, completing a career spanning almost 41 years of varied experience.

For over 10 years he represented the QFES and Queensland at the Federal level as AFAC’s (Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authority Council) Chair of the Built Environment Committee, dealing with key issues in fire Safety, fire prevention, fire investigation, major infrastructure development (e.g. tunnels), fire engineering, fire education, research and policy. As such he also had significant input into developing national building codes and building fire safety standards and regulations.  He has had long years of experience as a Vice President and Director on the Board of the Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPA), The Fire Protection Industry Board of Queensland, and either chaired or represented the QFES on many interdepartmental government committees and key stakeholder groups dealing with a range of critical fire safety issues, including the development of Queensland’s new legislation dealing with fire and evacuation plans.

Graeme holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations is a Graduate of the Institution of Fire Engineers, holds a Diploma of Front Line Management and a Diploma of Command & Control in Emergency Management, participated in the the Australian Institute of Police Management’s  (AIPM) Graduate Certificate in Management and in various Executive Leadership courses conducted at tertiary and other institutions. He has been awarded various Emergency Service Minister’s, Director’s General and Commissioner’s commendations and citations, the Australia Day Medallion, the Fire Service DES medal, the Australian Centenary Medal, the Australian Fire Protection Medal and, Australia’s highest award to a firefighter the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM).

He is the founder and CEO of ‘GT & Associates’ providing professional speaking, mentoring and consultancy services and has established an international agency for Fire & Emergency Services speakers (IFESSA). He remains passionate about fire safety, the fire services and disaster and emergency management at the local, state, national and international level.

Alan Clarke

APM

Alan Clarke is a retired Assistant Commissioner and Commander of the NSW Police Major Events and Incidents Group (MEIG). The MEIG manages all high risk public order response and major event planning. At the time of his retirement, Alan had served 36 years with NSW Police.

During his career, Alan served as the principal sponsor of the Command Level Training Program which incorporates the Incident Commanders Course (ICC). In 2004, he undertook a secondment to the NSW Premiers' Department as the NSW Director of Crime Prevention. He has also performed the role of Commander of NSW Police Public Affairs, and co-ordinated interstate and overseas deployments of NSW Police to assist in emergencies. These include the Victorian Bush Fires, Queensland Floods, and Christchurch Earthquake.

In addition, as Assistant Commissioner, Alan was the Corporate Spokesperson for the use of TASER by NSW Police and oversaw the introduction of TASER to front line policing in NSW. In 2010 Alan represented all Australian Police Jurisdictions and New Zealand at the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Taser Conference in Philadelphia USA.

In 2010 Alan Clarke travelled to the UK, Berlin and Zurich to review security operations for major events. Following this, he developed security plans and costs for government bids for events including the Soccer World Cup, International Monetary Fund Annual General Meeting, and 2014 G20 Leaders conference.

In 2011, Alan presented on the ‘use of social media in event communications’ at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economies Planning Conference, held in Vancouver, Canada.

Alan holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) Sydney University.

John joined Concept Safety Systems (now Locatrix) as Chief Executive Officer in 2010. With a background in Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Mergers and Acquisitions, John has over 25 years experience in business. ​

John holds board positions ​at international blue chip​ companies including Ephox and Revelian.​

John values workplace cultures built on respect and whole-company-collaboration, and believes that the key to building long-term relationships in business is identifying the connection between listening and learning.​

Since taking the reins, John has driven substantial technological advances in the delivery of its products and services, including numerous industry firsts. ​

John holds a Master of Arts with Macquarie University.​

Steve Kavanagh

CFO

Steve joined Concept Safety Systems (now Locatrix) as CFO in 2011, and also oversees the business' IMS Certification. ​

He is a former Director with the Emerging Business Services Division of PwC, and has over 25 years experience in assisting private enterprises with business advisory, funding and financial modelling, as well as structuring and taxation planning. ​

A true professional in his field, Steve has overseen various financial projects over the course of his career, always striving to achieve the most beneficial outcome for his respective clients. His logical and thorough approach to business is reassuring to those around him, and this results in a mutual respect between him and his clients, colleagues and business partners. ​

Steve is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) with CQ University. ​

Simon Sanderson

CIO

Migrating to Australia from England in 2002, Simon joined Concept Safety Systems (now Locatrix) in 2015 and became Chief Information Officer in 2016. ​

He is responsible for planning and implementing the technological solutions that are the strategic direction of Locatrix.  A software engineer by trade, Simon has over 30 years experience in the software industry, and he brings invaluable knowledge and perspective to Locatrix. ​

Since becoming CIO, Simon has combined his depth of technology experience with his communications skills, and now leads a growing team of highly skilled engineers that are really making a difference to the evolution of Concept Safety. ​

He has an impressive list of blue chip companies on his resume including Boeing, British Aerospace, Thales, GCHQ, Nortel, EDS and Qld Health.​

Simon holds a Bachelor in Computer Science and Cybernetics with the University of Reading.

Andreas Deakin

Executive Manager - Sales

Andreas has been the Principal Consultant ANZ since joining Concept Safety Systems (now Locatrix) in July 2016. He is a highly-experienced ITIL certified consultant and has a sound understanding of services, technical planning, probity, purchasing and accountability policies and guidelines.​

Andreas has over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry with previous roles held as CTO for an Australian based systems integrator, Principal Consultant ANZ at a software development company designing compliance solutions and IT Manager for an automotive supplier operating in Europe, Asia and North America. ​

Andreas holds a Bachelor of Biological and Medical Engineering , and is also a certified Fire Safety Adviser and QBCC Fire Occupational License holder.​

Andrew Eross

Executive Manager Technology

Andrew joined Concept Safety in March 2018 with the acquisition of Locatrix Communications, where he held the position of Chief Technology Officer. ​

Andrew has over 18 years experience in technology architecture and he is an expert in mobile, network, and web application design. He has delivered over 50 projects to a wide variety of Enterprise and SMB customers including Qualcomm, Verizon, Telstra, Virgin Mobile, Ericsson, and NBC Universal. ​

Prior to Locatrix, he co-founded Chasma Interactive in the United States, an industry leading publisher of mobile applications in the early 2000s. ​

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the University of Queensland and is a certified Fire Safety Advisor (FSA). ​

Amanda Eade

Executive Manager Finance, Compliance & Administration

Amanda joined the Finance department of Concept Safety (now Locatrix) in 2012, and she now manages Finance, Compliance and all aspects of Administration. She is also responsible for the business’ IMS certification and compliance.​

Amanda’s role at Locatrix is quite diverse, as she manages many different areas of the business including Internal Auditing, Compliance, HR, Finance and Administration, but she always does so in a professional and efficient manner. ​

Amanda holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and a Diploma in Quality Auditing, as well as statements of attainment in Quality, Environment and Occupational Health & Safety management Systems.​

Amanda is also a certified Justice of the Peace.

Helen Hall

Executive Manager Marketing Strategy

Helen joined CSS (now Locatrix) in April 2018, before moving into her Executive role in January of 2019. ​

Previously a Project Director in Construction Management, Helen has experience in taking a product from inception to market, adhering to strict deadlines and client requirements.

In addition to this experience, Helen has managed fire compliance for a major provider within the Aged Care sector, implementing mandatory fire sprinkler system upgrades to 700 licensed places whilst leading cultural change within an operating environment.​

Helen has 20 years experience in the Property and Aged Care sectors and holds a Diploma in Management and Project Management, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Management with Macquarie University.
