Since the announcement of England’s updated Fire Safety Standards enforced from 23 January 2023, Locatrix has been actively engaging with English fire safety professionals to better understand where our technology can support businesses in audits and necessary upgrades to now non-compliant buildings.
Not at all unfamiliar with Government enforced deadlines following devastating catastrophes like Grenfell, in Australia we had similar tragedies such as the Childers Backpacker fire which triggered the 2008 Australian Fire Safety Regulation and also the Quakers Hill Nursing Home disaster which saw mandatory upgrades in fire sprinkler installations in care homes in Australia by 2016. In support of meeting these deadlines, Locatrix has assisted the Australian Fire Industry in meeting mandatory requirements with its Fire Safety applications PlanSafe and PlanStudio.
PlanSafe, our online Fire Safety training program along with PlanStudio, our indoor mapping application both provide building occupants with role specific education on how to manage an emergency in their building along with clear and current digital evacuation diagrams which can be easily accessed and amended by certifiers. All detail securely saved to the cloud and shared with emergency services to improve emergency management and occupant safety.
By using PlanStudio a certifier can quickly provide a building owner with a complete set of digital plans of their building. Ideal for new builds but even better suited for messy or repurposed existing buildings as you can complete the edit and mark-up of the plan on your iPad as you walk the building, making sure that no detail is missed.
Understanding the new requirements under the new English Fire Safety Regulations 2022 and knowing the PlanStudio is the best suited product to assist certifiers meet this demand, we are grateful to partner with Steve Woollam of Hurst Compliance.
“Having been in the Fire and Security Industry for 35 years, I decided it was time to start my own Fire Risk Assessment Company, Hurst Compliance, in 2022. It's an industry that has served me and my career well and I’m pleased to see some serious changes being imposed I order to improve the safety standards of high risk buildings here in England.”
A new client engaged Hurst for a fire safety audit including the provision of updated electronic diagrams, which is when Steve stumbled upon Locatrix in a Google search.
“With the simplicity of PlanStudio being able to quickly and easily create a building’s entire floor plans, I could easily see that this was the best tool to use in order to meet the immediate and urgent need to address the new requirements of providing electronic up-to-date floor plans under The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Any building that has not got this in place is now deemed ‘non-compliant’ since it was made a legal requirement from 23 January 2023. PlanStudio has all the icons required to provide a plan which includes the exact location of all key fire-fighting equipment in a clear and simple way.”
“To me, PlanStudio looks to be the most ideal tool to address this immediate need. Jayden Truman and Jamie Eade of Locatrix have been an incredible support in first showcasing PlanStudio’s amazing capability along with making the time to answer my myriad of questions on how I can best address some of the more complex building audits I need to complete.”
Understanding that Hurst Compliance is in its early stages of growth, it gives us confidence to know that we can only ensure its success on the back of PlanStudio. With 124 active Partner companies here in Australia, in the last three years having collected over 63m sqm of indoor floor data through PlanStudio, we have seen firsthand many of these companies grow their workforce and their revenue on the back of PlanStudio.
